System D: Cold Forged Sleeve Splicing for Ribbed Rebar
Principle:
By adopting the special pressing machine to press the coupler laterally, the steel coupler is plastically deformed and combined closely with the ribbed rebar, and therefore, the splicing of rebars is realized.

General Regulations:
1. Cold swaging rebar splicing can be used for rebar splicing in concrete structure in different directions. Rebar is from 16mm to 40mm.
2. It is convenient to use swaging rebar splicing as described below:
1) When the requirement of rebar splicing strength and anti-fatigue performance is very high;
2) Splicing of rebar with bad solderability.
3. Cold swaging splicing can be used for rebar of both same diameter and different diameters. When the diameter difference of rebar is no more than 5mm, the same coupler listed in Table 2 can be adopted. When the diameter difference is more than 5mm, varied diameter coupler should be used. In this condition, the testing of rebar splicing should be evaluated as per the requirement for minor diameter coupler.
